Sister Joanne Safian, RSHM, spent 36 years as a high school educator, teaching English at Marymount School, Richmond, Virginia, and then teaching English and classical Greek at The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, New York, where she was also Assistant Principal for Academics. Sr. Joanne then served as Provincial Councilor and Treasurer for the Eastern American Province, and subsequently, as General Secretary on the RSHM Institute Leadership Team in Rome, Italy, She is currently a member of the Eastern American Area Advisory Council, Executive Secretary of the Archdiocesan Council of Women Religious, and a volunteer at the RSHM LIFE Center Legal Services where she tutors clients for their citizenship exams.
