The Marymount Alumnae Board, administrators, members of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM) and their families, and Fordham University’s Office of Alumni Relations gathered to celebrate Marymount College’s founding in 1907 by Mother Marie Joseph Butler at Fordham University.

Mary Heyser, RSHM, Former Marymount College of Fordham University Alumnae Chaplain was honored for all her efforts at Fordham and RSHM ministries. She will be greatly missed.

This year’s event celebrated the 25th anniversary of the RSHM LIFE Center. The Mission of the Center is to welcome the needy, especially women and children, and to create with them a culture that nurtures their human development. The Center serves individuals of all faiths and cultural traditions. With the belief that Learning Is For Everyone (LIFE), the Center has a whole family orientation in all of its programs, from toddlers to senior citizens. It focuses on the learning needs of the entire family and provides free childcare for adults taking programs. The LIFE Center believes that getting to know the families and involving them in the Center Programs helps build stronger community relationships.

Susan Gardella, RSHM, gave remarks about the history of the LIFE Center and where it is now. There was also a panel featuring employees of the Center as well as former Marymount students who volunteered there. The panelists discussed the impact the LIFE Center has had on them.
