Human trafficking is a global problem and no country is immune to it. Millions of victims fall into the hands of traffickers, lured by fake promises and deceit. Data also shows that trafficking happens all around us as the share of persons trafficked within their own country has doubled in recent years to 58 per cent of all detected victims, according to the 2018 UNODC Global Report on Trafficking in Persons. Yesterday was World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. On July 29th, a worldwide network of 2,000 Catholic religious sisters marked the 10th anniversary of its efforts to combat human trafficking. Above you can see the RSHM sisters and extended family being a part of this good work!
