Part-time Licensed Practical Nurse

The mission of Marymount Convent is to foster the flourishing of individual and community life for the sisters who reside there. To help us fulfill our mission, we are currently looking for an experienced per-diem LPN to join our dedicated team.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a current NYS LPN license and a minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care or geriatric setting. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of patience, empathy and compassion.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Administers proper medication and treatment, monitor medication doses and sisters’ responses.
  • Makes rounds to ascertain the needs of the sisters are met.
  • Observes the Nursing Assistants to ensure quality nursing care is rendered.
  • Reports any changes in sisters’ baseline, including behavior, complaints, physical symptoms, skin alterations, responses to medication or treatment, etc. to the Director of Nursing
  • Notifies the Coordinator/Director of Nursing of any emergency.
  • Reviews the orders from the physician, notes and implements any medication and treatment changes.
  • In the absence of the medical scheduler, the LPN makes and changes appointments with physicians and therapists.
  • Participates in person-centered care and ensures quality nursing care.
  • Collects, tracks and maintains the sisters’ medical charts as appropriate; records any new data.
  • Communicates regularly with the Convent pharmacy to ensure all sisters receive their medications as ordered.

Shift and schedule

  • Weekends as needed
  • Night shift
  • Monday-Friday
