Lecture of “The World of Textiles”

September 26, 2019 at 7pm

Free of charge

Back by popular demand! Sister Bianca will give a slide show presentation of her travels in textiles around the world. Sign up by September 18th.


Beginner’s Workshop

October 22-25, 2019 from 1pm to 4pm

Fee: $150 plus materials

Learn about the warp and weft and how to operate a loom. Learn some new vocabulary as you explore with color and yarns to create a scarf. Bring your own yarns or select from our collection before October 5th to give us time to dress your loom. Instructed by Patrice & Tali. Sign up by September 24th (limited to 6 participants).


Working with Linen in 3/1 Twill

November 12-15, 2019 from 1pm to 4pm

Fee: $150 plus materials

Create a table runner or placemats. Learn how to work with linen. Instructed by Sister Bianca. Sign up by October 15th (limited 4 participants).


Two-Color Warps and Wefts

March 17-20, 2019 from 1pm to 4pm

Fee: $150 plus materials

Choose your own fiber and colors as well as a weaving pattern from Anne Dixon’s “Handweaver’s Pattern Directory” (pages 48-58). Come to The Weaving Center by February 21st to make your choices. Instructed by Sister Bianca. Sign up by February 18th (limited to 4 participants).


2 Week Beginner’s Workshop

May 5-15, 2019 from 1pm to 5pm

Fee: $300 plus materials

Learn (or refresh your knowledge of) how to plan and make a warp, dress the loom, tie it up and finally weave. Pick up a few new Finnish techniques and vocabulary in the process. Explore with color and texture for your project. Instructed by Tali and Patrice on countermarch looms (a limited number of jack looms are available upon request). Sign up by April 7th (limited to 6 participants).

Extended Family Retreat at Cormaria in Sag Harbor, NY

JOIN US to reflect with other women in a beautiful setting on the water at the Cormaria Retreat House, 77 Bay Street, Sag Harbor, N.Y. Sr. Ann Marino, R.S.H.M. will direct the retreat. The theme is "The First Four Beatitudes."

The program fills up very quickly. We recommend you make a reservation as soon as you can to ensure a space. Total cost is $225. The charge for those coming for Saturday only will be $50.

You may register for this retreat by filling in the Registration Form and sending it with your non-refundable deposit of $50. We accept personal checks or cash. We are not able to accept credit cards.

We invite you to join us for a Lenten Day of Prayer on Sunday, March 11, 2018 The day will begin with Eucharist celebrated by Rev. Senan Taylor, OFM, Cap at 11:00 AM at Butler Memorial Chapel. This will be followed by a light lunch in the auditorium. The afternoon program presentation "The Dignity of Women - An RSHM Tradition" by Sister Ellen Marie Keane, RSHM, PhD will be at 1:00 pm. The afternoon will include time for reflection and sharing. The day will end at 2:30 pm.
